If you know much about me and my family, you know we go Crazy if we don't spend time outside.

You also hear us raving about the outside OFTEN!

In fact I don't think we can go a full conversation without encouraging some sort of outdoor activity.

With that being said, I introduce you to the challenge we have discovered. Which is a challenge that we can Fully support, 100%, with no disagreements.

1000 Hours Outside. You can check out their blog and the challenge on this link! Please do!

The purpose

The entire purpose of 1,000 Hours Outside is to attempt to match nature time with screen time. If kids can consume media through screens 1,200 hours a year on average then the time is there and at least some of it can and should be shifted towards a more productive and healthy outcome.

This Purpose was pulled directly from the website HERE

It totally pulled me in!

They went on to say

" Children Should Be Outside for 4-6 Hours Every Day

If three hours a day is a baseline we risk shortchanging our children if our goal is only three hours a week.  That is why we have a goal, so that we don't miss this key component that all children need"

I did not Hesitate to accept this challenge!

Why

Why did this challenge called out to us?

Our children have been battling with the ways of society since the moment they entered this world.

People on social media, news, friends, and even family have different ways of living.

Upon researching, I have found the very harmful link between games and the media, and all together, I want SO much more for my boys. We opted out.

We chose to get our children Outside.

Results Thus Far

After accepting this challenge I have noticed more intention when I take my boys outside for play.

It's Healing. It has been healing to their minds and their hearts. They enjoy themselves more. And in their boredom, they grow!

I actually noticed they went a week without even mentioning something like Nintendo/Phone/Tablet/TV which was shocking. But SO neat! They've just been so fulfilled with the outdoors. The next challenge was to make myself join them instead of just sending them out.

Even though that could give you a few hours of 'me time' right?! So tempting, yet so backwards, considering WE as parents are the sole teachers of our children.

Our children are learning from us every day. And by leading by example our children will learn what we teach.

Teaching isn't an act that you can turn off.

You will always be an influence, your choices will always teach someone what to do and what not to do. And with attention and love, your child will be able to filter and discern what's right and wrong, legally, morally, and ethically.

This is what I strive for.

I will be making a post soon, about How to encourage those Stubborn souls outside when you get those Flat out "No's" and no participation.

A few tips from my experiences that have worked in my home and with the Youth I've worked with!
